Severe weather possible in Metro Detroit Wednesday afternoon

Marginal risk for severe weather in our southern counties

4Warn Weather – It’s a quiet, warm and muggy start to the morning with light winds and mainly clear skies.

It will be hot and humid today as highs rise well into the 80s, with heat indices into the low 90s. There is a chance of late day thunderstorms.

A few of these storms will be strong to severe, capable of producing strong wind gusts and torrential rain, especially in our southern communities. The marginal risk for severe weather covers most of Washtenaw county, SW Wayne county and all of Monroe and Lenawee counties.

The window for severe weather is 3 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Sunrise is at 6:26 a.m. and sunset is at 8:53 p.m.

Rest of week

Keep the umbrella nearby. Rounds of showers and thunderstorms will affect the area from Thursday afternoon through Friday.

Isolated severe storms are possible Thursday afternoon and evening, mainly from Howell to south of Detroit, stretching south past the Ohio state line.

Heavy rainfall and localized flooding will be possible late Thursday through Friday. Highs remain in the upper 80s. Humidity will persist into the weekend before drier air builds in next week.

Heat indices will reach into the lower 90s through Saturday.
