Sunday is bringing a mix of sunshine and clouds over Southeast Michigan.
There is the slightest chance of a stray shower, but most people will have to wait another day to see rain. Sunday’s highs will be in the upper 80s. Fortunately, the humidity is tolerable. Winds will be out of the west-southwest at 5 to 10 mph with gusts up to 15 mph.
Sunday night, it will be partly cloudy with lows in the upper 60s to 70 degrees. During the overnight hours, mainly after 2 a.m., scattered showers will begin to move into the area from the west. Winds will be westerly around 5 mph.
Monday
A couple of showers will be in the vicinity during the Monday morning commute with mostly cloudy skies, but the better chance of showers and thunderstorms will be in the afternoon. Atmospheric moisture will fuel storms. Overall conditions will be favorable for some storms to become strong to severe as a cold front sweeps southward. Downpours could cause additional rise of some area creeks and rivers, which are already elevated from Friday’s heavy rain.
Monday’s highs will top out in the lower to mid 80s, but it will be uncomfortably muggy. Lows will fall to the lower 60s.
Tracking the Tropics
In national weather, rain bands from Tropical Storm Debby are already lashing West Florida. The storm is expected to make landfall in the Big Bend area of Florida’s Gulf Coast early Monday. The tropical storm is forecast to strengthen and could become a hurricane before landfall.
Tuesday
Here in Southeast Michigan, the chance for showers and thunderstorms will linger into Tuesday. Highs will be noticeably cooler in the lower to mid 70s. Lows will be around 60 degrees.
Through Weekend
Skies are likely to be mostly sunny to partly cloudy from Wednesday through next weekend. During this stretch, highs will range from the mid 70s to lower 80s. Lows will be in the upper 50s and lower 60s.
