4Warn Weather – Most of Lower Michigan is at risk for severe weather on Monday, and possibly into Tuesday.
The Storm Prediction Center has placed the northern half of the Lower Peninsula in a thunderstorm category, while the southern half is under a “marginal” risk for severe weather.
A portion of the south-east corner of Michigan, near the Michigan-Ohio border, was under a “slight” risk for severe weather on Monday, the second lowest level on a scale of five levels. But later Monday afternoon, the risk was downgraded for this area, back into the “marginal” category.

Here’s the latest from 4Warn Weather’s Ashlee Baracy: An active window of showers and thunderstorms gets underway as a strong, but slow-moving, cold front settles southward across Southeast Michigan later Monday and into Tuesday.
The primary timeframe for the strongest storms is from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. Monday
Gusty winds, large hail, heavy rainfall, and localized flooding are possible Monday evening through Tuesday morning.
There is a low-end threat of an isolated tornado. The severe risk shifts to a marginal threat along and south of I-96 on Tuesday.

From NWS in Grand Rapids: A round of showers and storms will push through the area this morning with most areas drying out for a time this afternoon/evening. Another round of storms is expected after midnight.
Main threats from storms will be heavy rain, lightning and winds to 50 mph. Highs today will push into the 80s.
