Slight Risk for Severe Storms this Afternoon and Evening

4Warn Weather – Another oppressively hot and humid day. There is a marginal risk (Level 1 out of 5) of severe thunderstorms today along and south of M-59 to I-94 and a slight risk (Level 2 out of 5) along and south of I-94 to the state line.

As temperatures soar into the upper 80s, it could feel nearly ten degrees warmer with the heat index. An active window of showers and thunderstorms gets underway as a strong, but slow moving cold front settles southward across Southeast Michigan later today into Tuesday. The primary timeframe for the strongest storms is from 2 PM until 10 PM. Gusty winds, large hail, heavy rainfall and localized flooding are possible this evening through Tuesday morning. There is a low-end threat of an isolated tornado. The severe risk shifts to a marginal threat along and south of I-96 on Tuesday.

SUNSET: 8:47 PM

We will tumble in temperatures tomorrow with highs in the low 70s. Dry and cooler weather with lower humidity moves in midweek and beyond offering up a nice stretch of weather. Our highs will rebound to either side of 80 degrees on Wednesday through the rest of the week and upcoming weekend.
