Wet weekend in Metro Detroit, with cool start to workweek

Dry, cool stretch to begin Southeast Michigan

Umbrella and poncho alert: Showers and the chance of thunderstorms will continue in Metro Detroit this weekend.

Showers moved across Metro Detroit during the Woodward Dream Cruise on Saturday, and more rain could impact the Yankees vs. Tigers game at Comerica Park on Sunday evening.

The chance of rain will wind down on Saturday evening in Southeast Michigan and leave behind mostly cloudy skies. Lows will fall to the mid 60s. Westerly winds will be 5 to 10 mph.

Sunday

Showers and thunderstorms will wrap around a slow-moving low-pressure system over Ontario. A couple of showers will be possible Sunday morning, but the chance of showers and thunderstorms will increase in the afternoon. General storm motion will be southeasterly. Temperatures will only reach the mid 70s in most of Southeast Michigan and the lower 70s in the Thumb, which is several degrees cooler than normal. Winds will be out of the northwest at 8 to 12 mph with gusts up to 20 mph.

Most of the rain will cease by 10 p.m. Sunday. Nighttime skies will be mostly cloudy. Expect lows in the lower 60s.

Monday

Conditions will improve on Monday with a mix of clouds and sunshine. Highs will be in the lower to mid 70s. Under mostly clear skies, Lows will be in the mid 50s.

Tuesday through Thursday

The cool, dry air will settle over Metro Detroit. Tuesday through Thursday, plan on highs in the mid to upper 70s and lots of sunshine. Temperatures will return to normal and reach the lower 80s by Friday and mid 80s by next Saturday.
