Football weather on tap for this weekend in Metro Detroit

Cold front brings scattered showers early, cooler temperatures into the weekend

4Warn Weather – A damp start this morning as a line of showers along an advancing cold front continues to move east through the region.

Temperatures are much warmer this morning due to the blanket of cloud cover overnight, but don’t expect them to warm much today in the wake of the front.

Sunrise is at 7:04 a.m.

Showers should end early this morning with a slight chance of a spotty shower lingering today, mainly north. A very fall-like airmass will settle into the area today. Highs top out in the low 70s early and fall into the 60s through the afternoon as clouds hang around.

Sunset is at 7:58 p.m.

Lows tonight will be much cooler, on either side of 50 as winds pick up out of the northwest. Lake effect rain showers will affect much of the thumb region tonight into Saturday morning. It will feel like October on Saturday as temperatures only reach either side of 60.

Pair those temperatures with wind gusts around 20 mph and you will want to prepare to wear sweatshirts and light jackets for outdoor activities. The fall-like weather will persist into Sunday morning before rebounding Sunday afternoon.

If you are going to tailgate at the Lion’s game Sunday afternoon, it will be pleasant with highs back around 70. Otherwise, a mainly dry and breezy weekend ahead of a July-like warm-up next week with 80s making a strong comeback for most of the week.
