4Warn Weather – High temperatures will be close to average again today, in the upper 70s-low 80s. Keep your eyes to the sky tonight for possible viewing of the Northern Lights. A G1-G2 (Minor-Moderate) geomagnetic storm is likely due to the arrival of a CME (Coronal Mass Ejection) that left the sun on Sunday. Timing of the forecasts puts this aurora display going strong as sunset hits Michigan, so right after dark and through dawn. Note that forecasting the northern lights is not a perfect science and this is based on what we know from the Space Weather Prediction Center.
We could see some fog develop again overnight into the early morning hours on Wednesday, but daybreak will burn off any fog that forms. Dry and warm conditions continue for the rest of the week with highs in the mid-80s. Warmer weather will stick around this weekend and into next week. As we track the tropical moisture from Francine, a blocking pattern will likely inhibit the remnants of Francine from lifting into the Great Lakes keeping dry weather around through the weekend.
