4Warn Weather – Warmth and above-average temperatures are the name of the game around southeast Michigan, and it’s not going anywhere anytime soon.
First, some fog could again be a bit of an issue overnight Tuesday night and early Wednesday. Like Tuesday morning, it could be dense in spots, so you may want to give yourself some extra time for your morning commute.
Mid-week forecast
Following the fog burning off after sunrise, temperatures are on the rise, and there is really no turning back from the warmth (at least not for a while). Highs on Wednesday will approach the middle 80s, nearly 10 degrees above where we should be this time of the year.
We’ll hang out in the 80s for highs for the foreseeable future, even beyond that. The long-range outlook from the Climate Prediction Center gives southeast Michigan a very good chance to see above-normal temperatures through mid-to-late September.
So, while we may see a cool day here and there, the overall pattern suggests that warmth will stick around for a while. Keep in mind that the normal high now through the end of the month goes from the middle to upper 70s down to the lower 70s.
It also looks like we’ll stay dry for some time. Rain is focused down towards the Gulf of Mexico as Francine makes landfall and will then play a factor in our weather later this weekend and early next week.
This storm, which is forecast to make landfall in Louisiana Wednesday evening as a hurricane, will head north later this week and into the weekend. As a result, moisture from this storm will push closer.
However, long-range data seems to indicate that this will fizzle before it reaches us. There’s still a slight chance for rain around here early next week, but it’s looking like we’ll be mainly dry. However, it’s worth noting that this part of the forecast will need to be fine-tuned once Francine comes ashore.
