Hot Sunday with hazy sunshine in Metro Detroit

Stretch of above-normal temperatures in Southeast Michigan

It will be mostly sunny to partly cloudy on Sunday in Southeast Michigan. (WDIV)

The wonderful, warm weather will continue through the weekend and beyond in Metro Detroit.

Southeast Michigan’s skies will be partly cloudy to mostly clear on Saturday night, but there is a chance of patchy fog. Lows will be in the upper 50s in Ann Arbor and the Thumb and the lower 60s in Detroit, Dearborn, Downriver, and Warren. Winds will be out of the east at 4 to 8 mph.

Sunday

It will be mostly sunny to partly cloudy on Sunday in Southeast Michigan. (WDIV)

Sunday will start with areas of morning patchy fog, which will mostly dissipate by 9 a.m. Then, it will be mostly sunny to partly cloudy for the rest of the day. Light wildfire smoke in the atmosphere will contribute to hazy skies. Fortunately, the layer of smoke will remain elevated high enough to avoid impact on air quality across Metro Detroit.

Sunday afternoon temperatures will continue to rise to around 85 degrees in Metro Detroit. (WDIV)

Heading to Downtown Detroit to watch the Tigers or Lions? Early afternoon temperatures will be in the mid to upper 70s leading up to the games. Afternoon temperatures will continue to rise with around 85 degrees, which is 10 degrees above normal. Winds will be southeasterly at 6 to 12 mph.

The light wildfire smoke will give Southeast Michigan some vibrant sunrise and sunsets due to smoke scattering light. You may notice that the sun appears more orange or red than usual.

Sunday night will be mostly clear with lows around 60 degrees.

Monday

Monday morning will see areas of patchy fog again. Otherwise, it will be mostly sunny with above normal warmth. Highs will be in the lower 80s. Under mostly clear skies, nighttime temperatures will fall to around 60 degrees.

Tuesday through Thursday

Tuesday through Thursday will have highs around 80 degrees. This period will have a mix of sunshine and clouds; but there is a chance of increased clouds on Wednesday as moisture from the remnants of Francine passes to our south and east. Depending on the track of the system, it could deliver a stray shower to Metro Detroit on Wednesday.

Friday and Saturday

Skies will return back to mostly sunny on Friday and Saturday with highs in the lower 80s.
