Broken record forecast: Dry and warm in Metro Detroit

Pockets of shallow fog possible through morning commute

4Warn Weather – Cue the Temptations, “I wish it would rain.”

The weather headline continues to be the excessive dryness. We have another chance for patchy, isolated fog around daybreak, both Tuesday and Wednesday.

It’s slightly cooler Tuesday morning with most areas waking up in the low to mid-50s. Mostly sunny on Sept. 17 with highs near 80.

Sunset is at 7:38 p.m.

The only change to the forecast is that it looks less likely that we’ll see a stray shower on Wednesday. The Mid Atlantic tropical system is only able bring a modest increase in cloud cover Tuesday night and Wednesday. Highs will be in the low 80s through the week into the weekend. As far as the dry weather, our rainfall total for this month stands at 0.06 inches, all of which fell on September 6th. If the dry forecast holds through the weekend, it would mark the driest recorded September (through the 22nd) since 1908. Ragweed plants thrive in warm and dry weather with a light breeze. This forecast will surely trigger allergies! Also, the warm and dry weather could lead to muted fall colors this season.
