Breezy, wet weather expected this weekend as remnants of Helene impact Metro Detroit

4Warn Weather – The remnants of Helene will bring rain showers and breezy conditions to Metro Detroit through the weekend.

Some parts of Southeast Michigan will receive rain showers on Friday evening, but the better chance will be south of I-94. This means that the Tigers fans at Comerica Park may dodge the rain. The showers will arrive from the south. So, driving toward Ohio will increase your chance of encountering rain.

Besides the chance of a few showers, it will be mostly cloudy and breezy in Metro Detroit on Friday night. Winds will be out of east-northeast at 5 to 15 mph. Gusts will be as high as 30 mph near Detroit and in excess of 30 mph south of I-94.

Alert

The gusty winds are pushing water toward the Monroe County shoreline and elevating water levels, which could result in minor flooding.

A lakeshore flood advisory will be in effect for the shoreline of Monroe County until 10 a.m. Saturday. (WDIV)

Saturday

As the remnants of Helene sit over the Ohio and Tennessee valleys, Saturday will be cloudy, with periodic showers throughout the day in Metro Detroit. While any part of Southeast Michigan could get showers, the chance will decrease north of I-69. Highs will be in the lower 70s. Winds will be out of the east and northeast at 5 to 15 mph, with gusts up to 20 mph.

Tuesday

A cold front will push across Southeast Michigan on Tuesday. It will be partly cloudy to mostly cloudy with the chance of a couple of showers. While Tuesday’s highs will be in the lower 70s, cooler air will flow into the region behind the cold front.
