More rain, fog in forecast with warmer start to workweek in Metro Detroit

Sunshine to return midweek in Southeast Michigan

As the remnants of Helene fizzle out, Sunday night will be humid and cloudy with areas of fog and mist in Metro Detroit.

Sunday night’s lows will be in the lower 60s. Winds will be northeasterly at 5 to 10 mph with gusts up to 15 mph.

Monday

There will be areas of patchy fog and mist Monday morning. Then, it will be mostly cloudy and mostly dry with the chance of a stray shower. Most people will not get any rain. Temperatures will reach the lower to mid 70s in the afternoon. Winds will be out of the east at 5 to 10 mph.

Plan to tailgate for the Lions game? It will be mostly cloudy in Downtown Detroit with temperatures around 70 degrees leading up to kickoff.

Monday night’s skies will be mostly cloudy as fog develops late. The fog may become dense in some spots. Temperatures will fall to the lower 60s.

Tuesday

Tuesday, the first day of October, will be warm and mostly cloudy with the chance of rain showers and a thunderstorm. The showers will develop midday along and ahead of a cold front, which will approach from the west. The chance of rain will increase during the afternoon. Highs will be in the mid 70s.

The showers will end Tuesday evening. Cool air will flow into Southeast Michigan behind the cold front. Lows will be in the mid 40s to near 50 degrees.

The sunshine will return midweek.

Wednesday

Wednesday will be mostly sunny, but it will also be cooler. Highs will be in the lower to mid 60s. Lows will be in the mid 40s to near 50 degrees.

Thursday and Friday

Thursday will bring more sunshine and the return of temperatures in the lower 70s. On Friday, it will be mostly sunny to partly cloudy with the chance of a stray shower.

Next Weekend

Normal highs for the start of October are in the upper 60s. Next weekend will see temperatures around 70 degrees.
