Sweater weather: Saturday the pick day for apple picking in SE Michigan

Approaching cold front ushers in rain to start October

4Warn Weather – A cool, crisp morning with temperatures ranging from the upper 40s to mid-50s across Southeast Michigan.

Increasing clouds through midday as a front pushes out of Lower Michigan. A stray patch of light rain can’t be ruled out late Friday morning and early afternoon. Otherwise, dry later Friday afternoon as we start to clear out the cloud cover through the evening. A seasonal and dry high school football forecast tonight with clearing skies and temperatures in the 60s. A G3 (Strong) Geomagnetic Storm Watch has been issued through Sunday. This means that the chances for seeing the Northern Lights are high in Southeast Michigan over the next three nights due to influences from the halo CMEs that left the sun late on October 1 and midday on October 3rd. Mainly clear skies are forecasted for all three nights!

Sunset is at 7:09 p.m.

Looking for a day to hit the apple orchard or pumpkin patch? Saturday is the pick day of the weekend with near average highs in the upper 60s under sunny skies. Scattered showers and a rumble of thunder move in late Saturday night and early Sunday due to a low pressure moving in from Ontario. Sunday will be warmer and breezy with highs in the mid 70s and southwest wind gusts upward of 30 mph. Sunshine and seasonal 60s return for the next work week.
