Metro Detroit to see sunny days with a chance of frost

Hurricane Milton threatens Tampa with 175 mph winds

4Warn Weather – All quiet on the home front as concern grows for our friends in Florida.

Our weather for the next five days can be summed up as sunny with highs in the mid-60s and lows in the low 40s.

The most interesting thing is the outside chance of frost on Wednesday morning. Otherwise, focus remains on Hurricane Milton which strengthened to a Category 5 hurricane this afternoon with winds of 175 miles per hour as of 2 p.m. The current track puts Milton into the Tampa Bay area around 8 p.m. Wednesday. However, this track can change by as much as 100 miles or more.

Because of some wind shear, Milton should weaken to a Category 3 or 4 just before landfall. But the number will make little difference as the surge is still expected to be as much as 18 feet or more in some areas.

We will continue to monitor the path and bring you the latest on Local 4 news at 5, 6 & 11 p.m.
