Southeast Michigan will be chilly and even frosty in some communities Wednesday night and early Thursday morning.
Skies will remain mostly clear through the night. Lows will fall to the lower 40s in Detroit, Dearborn, Taylor, Ferndale, St. Clair Shores and Port Huron. Temperatures will tumble into the mid to upper 30s near Dundee, Dexter, South Lyon, Holly, and Grand Blanc. The Thumb, particularly inland, will see temperatures in the lower 30s.
Frost Advisory
A frost advisory will be in effect from 2 a.m. to 9 a.m. Thursday for Genesee, Lapeer, Livingston, Oakland, Washtenaw and Lenawee counties.
It is recommended to cover sensitive plants or bring potted plants indoors.
Hurricane Milton
In Florida, a powerful Hurricane Milton is ravaging the state with powerful winds, surge, and heavy rain. The major hurricane was even responsible for a tornado outbreak in the state. The storm is expected to cross the peninsula and travel out over the Atlantic Ocean on Thursday.
Thursday
In Michigan, the weather will be calm and cool.
While Thursday will begin with temperatures in the 30s and 40s in Southeast Michigan, it will warm into the lower 60s during the afternoon. It will be mostly sunny for most of the region as a high-pressure system dominates. Expect it to be partly cloudy in the Thumb and closer to Lake Huron. Winds will be out of the north around 5 mph.
Evening temperatures in Downtown Detroit will be around 60 degrees for the Tigers’ first pitch.
Thursday night will be mostly clear to partly cloudy, which will offer great sky conditions for the chance of seeing the northern lights. A G4 geomagnetic storm watch is in effect for Thursday and Friday. In areas away from city light pollution, decent opportunities to see the northern lights will begin after 8 p.m. The lights may be visible as far south as the Ohio Valley.
Thursday night’s lows will be in the upper 30s to mid 40s. The cooler temperatures will be near Ann Arbor, Howell, and Lapeer.
Friday
Friday will be partly cloudy with the return of warm weather. Afternoon temperatures will top out in the mid 70s, which is around 10 degrees above average. Nighttime temperatures will be in the upper 40s to lower 50s.
Saturday
Cooler air will flow into Metro Detroit on Saturday behind a cold front. A stray shower is possible, but most places will not see any rain. Highs will be in the mid to upper 60s. Lows will be in the mid to upper 40s.
Sunday
Sunday will bring a much better chance of rain showers. Highs will be in the lower to mid 60s. Lows will be around 40 degrees.
Monday
Then, cool air will reinforce itself in Southeast Michigan on Monday. Highs will only be in the mid 50s, which is typical of late October and early November.
