Cool, gloomy weather to start workweek in Metro Detroit

Monday’s temperatures will peak in lower to mid 50s in Southeast Michigan

The cool, showery weather of the weekend will linger into the start of the workweek in Metro Detroit.

Showers will be possible through Sunday night in Southeast Michigan with a rumble of thunder possible. Expect some areas of patchy fog and mist. Lows will range from 40 to 45 degrees with cooler temperatures west of I-275 and north of I-696. Winds will shift and become northwesterly at 5 to 15 mph.

Monday

Monday afternoon temperatures will peak in the lower to mid 50s in Southeast Michigan. (WDIV)

Scattered showers will make roads wet for the Monday morning commute. Morning temperatures will be in the 40s, which is near normal, but the high will be about 10 degrees below average. The afternoon temperatures will peak in the lower to mid 50s. Winds will be out of the north at 10 to 15 mph with gusts up to 20 mph.

A couple of showers will be possible into the evening and nighttime hours, but they will mainly be over the Thumb. Lows will fall to the mid to upper 30s. Localized temperatures may be near freezing in the Irish Hills.

Tuesday

Tuesday will be even a few degrees chillier. Highs will be in the upper 40s and lower 50s. Under partly cloudy skies, lake-effect rain showers will rev up off of Lake Huron. These showers will be concentrated over the Thumb, but a few showers will travel over other parts of Southeast Michigan. Tuesday night’s lows will fall to the lower to mid 30s. Frost will be a concern.

Wednesday

Wednesday will be partly cloudy to mostly sunny with highs in the lower to mid 50s. Nighttime temperatures will dip to the lower to mid 30s. Frost and freeze may be concerns.

Thursday and Friday

Thursday and Friday, skies will be mostly sunny. Both days will see temperatures climbing back into the lower to mid 60s. Lows will be in the upper 30s to mid 40s.

Saturday and Sunday

Saturday and Sunday will be warmer. Highs will be in the upper 60s to 70 degrees. While Saturday looks to be dry and mostly sunny, Sunday looks to be partly cloudy with the chance of a couple of showers.
