Rollercoaster of temperatures ahead in Metro Detroit

From subfreezing wind chills to highs in the 70s.

4Warn Weather – Brrr.... Have you turned the heat on yet? We are waking up to temperatures in the 30s with some feels like temperatures that have fallen below freezing. We will likely be a bit cooler tomorrow morning before a big rise in temperatures.

Other than a few sprinkles possible closer to the Lake Huron shoreline in the Thumb, the rest of Southeast Michigan clears out the clouds and has cool sunshine on tap today. Wind gusts could reach 20 mph midday factoring into cooler wind chills, but actual air temperatures will peak in the mid-50s this afternoon.

Sunset is at 6:49 p.m.

Keep your eyes to the night sky tonight. After sunset, you will be able to view the rare comet Tsuchinshan-ATLAS. The comet will rise slightly higher in the western sky each evening through October. Also tonight will be the Hunter Moon and third supermoon of the year. It will be not just a supermoon, but the brightest of four consecutive supermoons we’re enjoying this year. Meanwhile, frost development remains likely tomorrow morning as lows dip to below freezing. Seasonal low sixties return Thursday and Friday. Temperatures warm to either side of 70 this weekend as high pressure brings dry conditions. This will be a great weekend to take in outdoor fall activities like the apple orchard or corn maze with comfortable conditions and sunshine forecasted. Temperatures will stay in the 70s into early next week.
