More record warmth in Metro Detroit as howling winds linger into Halloween

Highs expected to be near 80 degrees Wednesday afternoon

DETROIT – It’s already a comfortable start to the day with temperatures starting in the 60s and low 70s! After reaching a record high temperature yesterday, record warmth continues today as southwest winds gust around 35 mph lifting temperatures to near 80 this afternoon.

Back-to-back record days! It will be a warm and Windy Wednesday with highs expected to crush the previous record of 76 degrees set back in 1999. We will have a mix of sun and clouds. Temperatures will feel more like June as opposed to late October.

Sunset is at 6:29 p.m.

Staying windy and well above average on Halloween with peak gusts around 40 mph. Showers are expected to move in during the late morning/midday hours with a chance of thunderstorms through mid-afternoon. Highs will range from the low to mid-70s. We should dry out before trick-or-treating, but winds will remain gusty, so hold on to that witch hat! A strong cold front brings temperatures down into the 50s by Friday. Staying seasonal this weekend with highs in the upper 50s. We will have rain working in early next week, but temperatures will be on the rise, close to 70 on election day.

Don’t forget to set your clocks back on Saturday night before you go to bed as Daylight Saving Time ends on Sunday at 2 a.m. Enjoy an extra hour of sleep!
