Rain showers, near-record warmth move back into Metro Detroit for Election Day

Rain showers move back into the region

Rain showers begin to move back into the region by Sunday night and into next week (WDIV)

4Warn Weather – We will see some sunshine to end the weekend, but rain showers are moving back into the forecast as well.

We will keep a little cloud cover into the forecast for the morning hours before more. Sunshine moves in Sunday late morning into Sunday afternoon in advance of our next round of rain starting to move in the region. Expect the clouds to increase Sunday afternoon into Sunday evening, with sky is going mostly cloudy by Sunday night. We are also going to hold onto the chance of a few rain showers into Sunday evening as well. High temperature is heading into the lower 60s by Sunday afternoon.

Looking ahead into the start of next week, we will keep the cloud cover into the forecast Monday and Tuesday for election day. And also the chance of showers will stick around as well as we watch another strong cold front roll through the region. In advance of that cold front, expect temperatures to get significantly warmer once again for both Monday and Tuesday. High temperatures will head into the upper 60s to near 70° by Monday afternoon, and temperatures in the middle 70s for election day on Tuesday with the potential for near record warmth by Tuesday afternoon. The current record for Tuesday is 74° set back in 2015, and as of right now, we would tie that record high with this forecast.

The winds will also be breezy looking ahead throughout the next couple of days, winds will be sustained 5 to 15 miles an hour gusting upwards of 25 to possibly 30 miles an hour especially into election day on Tuesday.

Once the cold front rolls through the region, we will clear things out looking ahead into the middle of the week, with cooler temperatures rolling in by the time we get to Thursday and to the end of next week on Friday. High temperatures remaining in the lower 60s on Thursday, dropping into the upper 50s by Friday.

Our next chance of rain after the early chances of rain this coming week, looks to be the start of next weekend. Expect rain showers to move back into the forecast for Saturday, high temperatures, heading back into the upper 50s by Saturday afternoon.
