Rain showers & record warmth continue through Election Day for Metro Detroit

High temperatures expected in the 60s and 70s through Tuesday before drier & cooler changes move into the region

4Warn Weather – After sunshine to start the day on Sunday, rain showers moved into the region late Sunday night, and we will keep the wet weather into the forecast, looking ahead throughout the next few days.

We’re going to watch a strong front of boundary moved toward the region over the next couple days, and before that frontal boundary moves through, rain showers will be expected through election day on Tuesday.

Rain showers will stick around on and off throughout the day on Monday and a Monday night, much warmer temperatures throughout the day. High temperature is heading into the upper 60s to near 70° by Monday afternoon.

We will keep the rain showers into the forecast through portions of the overnight, before we get a break from the rain for the majority of the day on election day. Rain showers will move back into the region by the time we get to the evening hours on Tuesday, as the polls are closing, and with a strong southerly flow, we are looking at record temperature as possible by the time we get to Tuesday afternoon.

MONDAY: Cloudy skies, a chance of rain showers. Warmer temperatures. Breezy winds anticipated. High: 69. Winds: South 10-20 MPH with gusts as high as 30 MPH

MONDAY NIGHT: Mostly cloudy skies, a chance of rain showers. Breezy winds anticipated. Low: 62. Winds: South 10-20 MPH with gusts as high as 25 MPH.

TUESDAY (ELECTION DAY): Cloudy skies, a chance of rain showers. Windy conditions expected. Record warmth possible. High: 75. Winds: South 10-20 MPH with gusts as high as 35 MPH.

TUESDAY NIGHT: Mostly cloudy skies, a chance of rain showers. Low: 53.

WEDNESDAY: Mostly cloudy in the morning, decreasing clouds throughout the day, skies becoming mostly sunny in the afternoon. Cooler temperatures. High: 62.

We’re forecasting a high of 75° on Tuesday afternoon, that would break the record of 74° set back in 2012. With the unseasonably warm conditions, the wind will be gusty the next few days as well. Expect wind gusts upwards of 30 miles an hour possible on Monday, and going as high as 35 miles an hour on Tuesday.

Once this frontal boundary moves through the region, we will dry things up, looking ahead into the second half of the week. Cooler temperatures will move in as well through the end of the week with highs dropping into the 50s by the time we get to Thursday.

We keep some sunshine into the forecast, looking ahead into the end of the week and start of next weekend, before another chance of rain showers moves into the region looking ahead into the end of next weekend on Sunday. Mild temperature sticking around into the upcoming weekend as well with high temperatures in the low 60s on Saturday, warming into the mid 60s by Sunday.
