Clouds and a few showers expected for Metro Detroit for the end of the weekend on Sunday

A stronger system will move into the region looking ahead into the middle and next of next week

A few rain showers are possible across the region on Sunday (WDIV)

4Warn WeatherSUNDAY: Cloudy skies. A slight chance of a few rain showers. High: 57. Winds: Southwest 5-15 MPH with gusts as high as 20 MPH.

SUNDAY NIGHT: Cloudy skies. A slight chance of a few rain showers early. Low: 41. Winds: West 5-10 MPH.

MONDAY: Partly cloudy skies. High: 58. Winds: Light and Variable.

MONDAY NIGHT: Mostly cloudy skies. Rain developing late. Low: 47. Winds: Southeast 5-10 MPH.

TUESDAY: Cloudy skies. Rain showers likely. Breezy winds anticipated. High: 59.

After cloud cover to start the weekend, we will keep the cloud cover around looking ahead into the end of the weekend with a stray shower possible in the afternoon and evening.

With plenty of moisture around in the lower levels of the atmosphere, we will keep the clouds around through Sunday, but also we will watch a cold front move through late Sunday night and into the overnight hours. This will also have just enough moisture that we will bring a slight chance of rain shower in through the afternoon and evening. High temperatures heading into the 50s by late Sunday afternoon.

We will break up the cloud cover and bring some sunshine into the forecast to start the week on Monday, before we have multiple episodes of rain showers, moving into the forecast, looking ahead into the majority of next week.

We’re going to watch an area of low pressure over Baja California and northern Mexico to start the weekend, combined with some upper level energy that will move into the region. Forecast data as of right now shows an area of low pressure tracking through Minnesota to start the week, and will head toward Michigan by the middle of next week.

As the strong low pressure system pulls off to the east, we will keep the rain chances into the forecast Tuesday through the end of the week on Friday. Rain will move into the region late Monday night after midnight and into Tuesday. We will keep the chance of rain showers into the forecast on Wednesday, before we expect rain showers to increase in intensity late Wednesday and into Thursday as this low pressure system moves right into the Great Lakes region.

But by the time we get to Thursday and Friday, as that low pressure center pulls off to the east, we are going to bring in some colder air from Canada down into the Great Lakes in Ohio Valley. This is going to drop high temperatures below average, and also start to gust up the winds looking ahead into the end of next work week as well. Expect winds upwards of 25 to 35 miles an hour possible, with some gust possible above 40 miles an hour.

As this low pressure system moves off to the East, we will keep the chance of rain showers into the forecast through the start of next weekend. High temperatures remaining below average, into the 40s by the start of next weekend.
