Rain showers Tuesday before first flakes of the season arrive Thursday in Metro Detroit

Temperatures dropping well below average into the end of the week

4Warn Weather – After a dry start to the week with cloud cover sticking around on Monday, we will bring in the active weather pattern through the rest of the week.

We are going to watch a strong low pressure system pulls off to the east Tuesday into Wednesday followed by another stronger low pressure system, so we will keep the rain chances into the forecast Tuesday through the end of the week on Friday.

Rain will move into the region as you are waking up and heading out the door on Tuesday Morning. We will keep the chance of rain showers into the forecast on Wednesday, especially late in the day, before we expect rain showers to increase in intensity late Wednesday and into Thursday as this low pressure system moves right into the Great Lakes region.

But by the time we get to Thursday and Friday, as that low pressure center pulls off to the east, we are going to bring in some colder air from Canada down into the Great Lakes in Ohio Valley. This is going to drop high temperatures below average, and also start to gust up the winds looking ahead into the end of next work week as well. Expect winds upwards of 25 to 35 miles an hour possible, with some gust possible above 40 miles an hour.

With the colder air moving into the region on Thursday, especially in the morning, we will bring in the chance of a few wet snowflakes mixed in with the rain showers, bringing our first snowflakes of the season to the region. High temperatures making it into the upper 30 to right around 40° by the time we get to Thursday afternoon.

TUESDAY: Cloudy skies. Rain showers likely. Breezy winds anticipated. High: 60. Winds: East 10-15 MPH with gusts as high as 25 MPH.

TUESDAY NIGHT: Cloudy skies. A chance of rain showers. Breezy winds anticipated. Low: 45. Winds: West 5-10 MPH.

WEDNESDAY: Mostly cloudy skies, a chance of rain showers. High: 54. Winds: West 5-15 MPH with gusts as high as 25 MPH.

WEDNESDAY NIGHT: Mostly cloudy skies, rain showers likely. Mixing with snow showers towards sunrise. Low: 33. Winds: Southwest 10-15 MPH with gusts as high as 25 MPH.

THURSDAY: Cloudy skies. Rain and snow showers in the morning, changing to all rain showers by lunchtime. High: 40.

As this low pressure system moves off to the East, we will keep a slight chance of a rain showers into the forecast through the start of next weekend. High temperatures remaining below average, into the 40s by the start of next weekend. The cloud cover sticks around for the end of the weekend as well. High temperatures remaining below average into the 40s.

We will bring in another chance of rain with another low pressure center heading into the region by the time we get into early next week. Majority of the day looks dry on Monday before rain showers move back into the region by late Monday night. High temperatures remaining in the 40s for early next week.
