Metro Detroit got its first snowfall of the season on Thursday.

Metro Detroit Airport picked up a dusting of snow, or 0.1 inches, in the morning. The Romulus weather observation station also reported its first freeze of the season.

The thermometer recorded 32 degrees at 8:24 a.m. Nov. 21. This is the latest date for the first freeze of the season on record for the official climate observing station of Metro Detroit.

[Several other Southeast Michigan communities had already recorded freezing temperatures, including lows in the 20s, this season.]

A few scattered rain and snow showers will move across Southeast Michigan through evening. Due to warm ground temperatures, accumulation is not expected.

Air temperatures will be colder. Red Wings fans, who attend the game at Little Caesars Arena, will have to brace for evening temperatures in the mid 30s and wind chills in the upper 20s and lower 30s. People will encounter sprinkles and flurries.

The rain and snow showers will diminish during the evening. Thursday night will be mostly cloudy with a few spots of patchy fog and mist.

Otherwise, it will be cloudy, cool, and windy. Highs will be in the mid 40s, which is normal. Winds out of the north-northwest at 10 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 35 mph, will make it feel even cooler. Wind chill values will be in the 20s in the morning and lower to mid 30s in the afternoon.

Friday night, plan for the chance of a spotty shower. Lows will be around 40 degrees.

Saturday and Sunday

This weekend will be mostly cloudy, but a stray shower will be possible on Saturday, mainly near the Lake Huron shoreline.

Saturday and Sunday’s highs will be mid to upper 40s.

A few rain showers will develop late Sunday night into Monday morning.

Monday

A few more rain showers will be possible during the day Monday. Highs will get back into the lower 50s. Monday night’s lows will be in the lower to mid 30s.

Tuesday and Wednesday

Tuesday and Wednesday, which are expected to be very busy travel days, will be mostly cloudy with highs in the lower to mid 40s.

Thursday, or Thanksgiving, will be mostly cloudy and cool. Morning temperatures will be in the 30s with an afternoon high around 40 degrees. While most of Southeast Michigan will remain dry, a stray shower is possible. The Ohio Valley will have a better chance of rain.
