It’s a blustery and snowy Black Friday in Metro Detroit.
Snow bands may lead to slick road conditions and reduced visibility. Slow down, increase distance from other vehicles, and be particularly vigilant while driving on bridges and ramps.
Snow showers will be numerous in some areas throughout the day, while other parts of Southeast Michigan will see just a few scattered snow showers. The more persistent and heavier snow bands will be south of M-59.
Better chances of snow accumulation will be along the I-94 corridor. The Ann Arbor area could pick up to an inch of snow, up to half an inch near Detroit, and a dusting or less north of M-59.
Apart from the snow showers creating a messy drive, shoppers will want to bundle up. Afternoon highs will be in the lower 30s, but breezy conditions will keep wind chill values in the teens for most of the day. Westerly winds will be 10 to 15 mph with gusts up to 30 mph.
Travelers will have to plan for accumulating lake-effect snow in West Michigan and the Cleveland and Buffalo areas.
Friday night will be mostly cloudy with a few flurries. Lows will be in the lower 20s. Winds will be out of the west at 10 to 15 mph and gusts in excess of 20 mph.
Saturday and Sunday
Saturday and Sunday will be cold with highs in the upper 20s and lower 30s. Flurries will be possible both days. Expect lows in the lower 20s.
The cold weather will continue into the first week of December with temperatures that are more typical of January.
Highs will be in the lower to mid 30s for the workweek, which is around 10 degrees cooler than normal. Skies will be mostly cloudy with daily chances of flurries.
