Parts of Michigan could get more than a foot of snow -- some areas more than 21 inches -- by the end of this weekend.
The National Weather Service said Northern Michigan and the Upper Peninsula are expected to get heavy snowfall over the next couple of days. Heavy lake-effect snow will contribute to the totals.
Gaylord is expected to receive 13-18 inches of snow. Mancelona could get 13-21 inches.
Munising, which is on the northern border of the Upper Peninsula, west of the Mackinac Bridge, is predicted to get up to 30 inches of snow, officials said.
Grand Marais and Paradise are looking at 10-20 inches of snow.
A winter storm warning is in effect.
