Frigid week ahead in Metro Detroit with more snow chances

Whipping winds arrive with snow midweek.

Brrrrrr! Bundle up... It’s another frigid start to the day. Waking up to temperatures in the 20s and feeling like the teens.

Temperatures remain slightly below average today with highs in the low to mid-30s. Expect a mix of sun and clouds with a slight chance for some scattered flurries in the Thumb. We have more lake effect snow impacting the west side of the state and Northern Michigan today into tomorrow. Winter storm alerts in those areas due to bands of lake effect snow coming off of Lake Michigan. Visibility and road conditions can change quickly in those areas.

Sunset is at 5:02 p.m.

The next chance for more widespread accumulating snow in Southeast Michigan will arrive Wednesday into early Thursday morning with a clipper system. Light accumulations around an inch will be possible. Some mixing in of rain will be possible for the Metro area. Otherwise, temperatures stay below average all week with an even cooler blast of air late wee with high temperatures struggling to reach 30 on Thursday and Friday. We could see another snow system arrive on Saturday.
