Metro Detroit waking up to frigid wind chills, blowing snow

Portions of Metro Detroit experiencing power outages

Although the snow has pushed out this morning, winds are whipping leading to single digit wind chills, blowing snow and power outages across Southeast Michigan. A 4Warn Weather Alert remains in effect through the morning hours.

Sustained winds of 15-20 mph with gusts 35-40 mph stick around today. Overcast skies with a few flakes possible, though no additional accumulation is expected. Single digit wind chills this morning rise into the teens this afternoon as actual air temperatures top out around freezing.

Sunset is at 5:01 p.m.

Cold again tomorrow morning with wind chills returning to the upper-single digits to lower teens. Still brisk Friday with highs in the mid-30s. We are in for a warming trend later this weekend into early next week with highs in the upper 40s, close to 50 and rain chances increasing on Monday.
