Get your shovels ready as snow is moving in and will be adding up across Southeast Michigan.
Thursday
For the rest of this Thursday, snow increases from the west in both coverage and intensity, especially as we approach the midnight hour.
Snow showers continue overnight, and will at times be heavy.
Temperatures overnight stay fairly steady, but will likely drop into the upper 20s.
Friday
Anyone planning on being on the roads or traveling in any fashion on Friday morning will want to give themselves some extra time as the morning drive will likely be a little slow.
Through the day Friday, snow will taper down in coverage and intensity.
While we’re expecting conditions to improve through the afternoon and evening, a few lingering snow showers will be possible.
That being said, the bulk of the accumulation will take place overnight and Friday morning.
Most of us will pick up between 1- 2 inches, but some spots further north towards the thumb could see more. Areas closer to Lake Erie could see a touch less as well.
Weekend Forecast
While a few flakes can’t be ruled out at times on Saturday, the weekend, for the most part, looks much better, but it will be colder. Under partly cloudy skies this weekend, highs will only be in the middle to upper 20s, which is about 10 degrees below normal for this time of the year.
Next Week
Another system brings us the chance for a few more snow showers later Monday of next week. Given the temperature profile, a few cold raindrops may mix in as well, especially south near the Ohio state line.
Another light accumulation is possible here, but this system would likely only give us another couple tenths of an inch of snow.
Christmas Forecast
As we head towards Christmas, temperatures do climb a little, which could lead to some melting. Highs on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day will be in the middle to upper 30s.
So while some snow will likely melt, there could still be some on the ground giving us a white Christmas.
