DETROIT – Snow, sleet, and freezing rain are coming to Metro Detroit on Monday, and accumulation of all three is possible.

Here’s a look at what you should expect in certain locations, and when it’ll happen.

M-59 and north

Areas along M-59 and to the north should primary get snow on Monday evening.

There could be some sleet or a wintry mix near M-59 in the afternoon or early evening.

Overall, this area could see 2-4 inches of snow. Areas near Saginaw and into the Thumb could possibly get 3-5 inches.

M-59 to I-696/I-94 corridor

These areas should start off with snow in the afternoon to early evening but then change over to a wintry mix of snow, sleet, and possibly freezing rain.

From M-59 to I-696, expect 1-2 inches of snow that changes over to sleet and freezing rain. There could be enough of that wintry mix to leave some sleet and ice accumulation in areas.

South of I-94 corridor

Places south of I-94 will start with snow on Monday afternoon/early evening and quickly change over to a wintry mix.

Eastern Wayne County and parts of Monroe County could see a change to rain for some time before going back to a wintry mix and snow as the system moves out of the region.

An inch or less of snow is expected south of I-94, with a light accumulation of sleet and freezing rain also possible.

When will winter weather end?

The wintry mix and snowfall will wind down near or after midnight Monday into Tuesday, as the forecast changes to cloudy overnight.

Lows remain around freezing early Tuesday morning.
