Here’s when rain showers, warmer temps return to Metro Detroit

High temperatures forecast to go well above average this weekend

Rain showers move back into the region looking ahead into the upcoming weekend

4Warn Weather – After just a little bit of sunshine Christmas morning, we have kept the cloud cover into the forecast for the majority of the day and it looks like that cloud cover will be sticking around as we work into the rest of the week.

Through the overnight hours tonight, mostly cloudy skies can be expected and we’re not going to rule out some patchy dense fog tonight after midnight into early on Thursday morning. Overnight low is dropping into the mid 30s.

Mostly cloudy skies can be expected for Thursday, temperatures will not warm up a whole lot throughout the day. High temperature is heading for right around that 40° mark by Thursday afternoon.

Our next chance of rain moves into the region Friday afternoon and into Friday evening, and will stick around for the entire weekend. Expect temperatures to warm up a few more degrees, into the middle 40s by Friday afternoon before going well above average into the low to mid 50s for both Saturday and Sunday before a cold front rolls through the region.

We will keep the cloud cover into the forecast to start next week on Monday, but then another round of rain showers moves in with another strong low pressure system by Tuesday.

High temperatures will remain above average in the mid 40s to start next week, but there are some indications that once this cold front rolls through next Tuesday, temperatures would drop back to more seasonable levels, and we would get another chance of lake effect snow showers moving in to start the new year on Wednesday. High temperatures will drop into the middle 30s by Wednesday afternoon.

  • THURSDAY NIGHT: Mostly cloudy skies. Low: 34.
  • FRIDAY: Cloudy skies. Rain develops in the afternoon and evening. High: 44.
  • FRIDAY NIGHT: Cloudy skies. Rain likely. Low: 40.
