It is a few days before January, but this weekend’s temperatures will feel like the start of spring in Southeast Michigan.
Besides the mild weather, Metro Detroit will have wet weather. Be prepared for the rain, which will impact all of Southeast Michigan on Friday evening. The showers will move northeasterly and become more sporadic after midnight.
During the evening, expect temperatures in the lower to mid-40s, but temperatures will rise overnight. Winds will be out of the southeast around 10 mph.
Saturday
Saturday will be mostly cloudy with spotty showers in the morning. A stray shower may linger into the early afternoon. Highs will be in the mid-50s, which is around 20 degrees above normal. [The average high for Dec. 28 is 34 degrees, and the record high is 64 degrees.] Winds will be out of the south-southwest at 5 to 15 mph.
Saturday night, it will be cloudy with lows in the lower 40s.
Sunday
Rain showers will return before dawn in Metro Detroit on Sunday. Plan for the rain to last all day. Highs will be in the upper 40s to 50 degrees.
The precipitation will stay as rain for most of Metro Detroit on Sunday night, but a mix of rain and snow will be possible in the Thumb. Lows will be in the mid-30s.
Monday
Monday morning will be mostly cloudy with a few sprinkles and flurries. Otherwise, clouds will decrease during the day. Highs will be in the mid-40s. Lows will be in the mid-30s.
Tuesday
Tuesday, or New Year’s Eve, will bring rain with highs in the lower 40s. The wet weather will stick around for evening celebrations with rain and snow. Lows will be in the lower 30s.
Wednesday
Wednesday, or New Year’s Day, will be mostly cloudy with the chance of a few snow showers. Highs will be in the mid to upper 30s. Nighttime temperatures will fall to the mid-20s.
Thursday and Friday
Thursday and Friday will be mostly cloudy with the chance of a few lake-effect snow showers. Highs will be in the upper 20s and lower 30s.
