4Warn Weather – After some rain and snow showers to end 2024, we are bringing in colder temperatures as well as the chances for some winter weather to ring in the new year.
Now that our low pressure system from Tuesday has moved off to the east, we will get a northwesterly flow kicking into the region to start the new year. This will bring colder air into the region, and chances for snow showers and or a few snowflakes Wednesday through the end of the week on Friday. High temperatures into the 30s on Wednesday and Thursday, will drop into the upper 20s by the end of the week on Friday.
We will keep the cloud cover into the forecast to start next weekend. High temperatures remaining below freezing heading into the first weekend of the new year. High temperatures will make it into the upper 20s on Saturday.
Then, we’re keeping an eye on the end of the weekend into early next week. The Climate Prediction Center has placed the region in a risk of well below average temperatures as well as a risk for the potential of heavy snow heading into the end of the weekend and early next week. The data as of Wednesday Morning shows that we could see a winter storm move into the region for the start of next week as the kids head back to school, but has been trending to move a little more south where we would get the fringe effects of it.
Right now, an area of low pressure looks to develop and move into the Midwest and Ohio Valley. Where this tracks will determine what types of winter weather we see across the region. We are bringing a chance of snow into the forecast to start next week, high temperatures remaining in the 20s.
We will keep the cloud cover into the forecast looking ahead to next Tuesday. Mostly cloudy skies can be expected, high temperatures into the mid-upper 20s are forecast for next Tuesday.
Beyond the Future4Cast, we will keep the below average temperatures in play for the first half of January as the Climate Prediction Center has continued the trend of well below average temperatures through the middle of the month. Looks like we may have a sustained period of winter-like weather on the way to start 2025.
