Teeth-chattering temperatures persist in Metro Detroit, off and on snow chances linger this week

Waking up in the 20s again, but feeling like teens and single digits again. A few flakes flying this morning, but roads are not quite as slick as yesterday.

Cold temperatures drape the area. Highs remain below average in the upper 30s. We could see a few breaks in the clouds today, but a better chance of seeing sunshine Thursday. Lake effect snow showers will develop tonight as the Great Lakes remain behind in icing over leading to more lake effect potential than usual this time of year.

Sunset is at 5:18 p.m.

Isolated to scattered snow showers are possible Wednesday afternoon. A minor snow accumulation may be possible along and southwest of a Howell to Detroit line. Temperatures remain below average through the week with coldest temperatures expected Wednesday night with wind chills below zero to start the day Thursday morning. Light snow will be possible again starting Friday evening, moving in from the Southwest.
