DETROIT – Southeast Michigan is getting 1-3 inches of snow on Tuesday, and then more in two days.
Winter weather advisory
A winter weather advisory is in effect until 2 p.m. for Wayne, Oakland, Macomb, Washtenaw, Livingston, and St. Clair counties.
Snow accumulation of 1-3 inches are expected in those counties, and areas outside the advisory zone could see up to 1 inch.
Lake-effect snow bands will set up between the I-96 and I-94 corridors through most of Tuesday. These bands could be intense and drop snow in short periods of time.
The snow bands could reduce visibility and produce accumulation quickly.
Thursday snowfall
Another front is expected to roll through the area on Thursday, and a chance of snow showers will return.
High temperatures will be a bit warmer, in the lower 30s.
Weekend snow chances
Metro Detroit will dry out for Friday, but a chance of rain and show showers returns on Saturday.
Sunday will be cloudy, and temperatures will drop into the mid-20s by the afternoon.
Some of the coldest air of the winter could arrive early next week. The window is from late Sunday to Wednesday. High temperatures could be in the single digits or lower teens.
