Blustery winds hitting Metro Detroit, snow chances expected further north

Clipper system brings minor accumulations north of I-69 this afternoon

A cold front is pushing south across the region this morning resulting in tumbling temperatures. We will rebound around the freezing mark this afternoon, but gusty winds around 30 mph will factor into wind chill readings about 10 degrees cooler than the air temperatures.

A clipper system will arrive this afternoon and evening leading to light accumulations along and north of I-69. Otherwise, the majority of Metro Detroit will get missed by this. Another cold front pushes through overnight bringing wind gusts back up to around 40 mph.

Wednesday

Some lake effect snow bands develop before daybreak and possibly linger through the morning. High pressure will end that in the afternoon as dry conditions build in. Highs will be in the mid-30s, but still breezy.

Rest of the Week

Warmer conditions arrive on Thursday as highs flirt with 40 degrees. However, a chance of rain rolls in Thursday night. The rain will possibly mixed with snow come Friday morning as temperatures slide below freezing. We will be fine-tuning this part of the forecast, but as of right now, we will be monitoring the potential for a slick Friday morning commute.

This weekend

Partly sunny and cooler on Saturday as highs dip into the 20s. We then rise back to around 40 on Sunday with a chance for a rain/snow mix.
