Here’s a timeline for the heavy snow expected in Southeast Michigan from Wednesday evening through Thursday morning.

5 to 7 p.m. -- Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2025

Snow showers will begin to move through the area Wednesday afternoon, but heavier snow is expected around 5 to 7 p.m.

4 a.m. -- Thursday, Feb. 13, 2025

The heavy snowfall will continue overnight but is expected to dwindle around 4 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 13, 2025.

Expected snow totals for Southeast Michigan

This heavy snowfall is expected to bring 2-8 inches of snow to Southeast Michigan, with local totals higher near the Thumb.

The majority of Metro Detroit is expected to get 3-6 inches of snow.

It is possible that communities closer to Toledo could see a wintry mix around midnight.

Weather advisories and warnings

A winter weather advisory is in effect for Genesee, Lenawee, Livingston, Monroe, Oakland, Washtenaw and Wayne counties until 7 a.m. on Thursday.

A winter storm warning is in effect for Lapeer, Macomb, Sanilac and St. Clair counties until 7 a.m. on Thursday.
