What to expect from a wintry mix Friday in Metro Detroit, snow chance this weekend

Wintry mix arrives Friday evening; some snow possible Saturday

DETROIT – Metro Detroit is in line for a wintry mix on Friday, and there is another chance for snow this weekend.

Friday: Wintry mix

A rain-snow mix is likely to arrive on Friday afternoon and evening, primarily along and south of I-94.

There’s a chance some of the precipitation will push as far north as M-59, but it’s only a slight chance.

With temperatures climbing near 40 degrees, minimal accumulation is expected from this mix.

Saturday: Passing snow chance

Temperatures will be around 40 degrees on Saturday, but there’s a chance for a passing snow shower or wintry mix in the northern parts of Southeast Michigan.

That chance arrives Saturday night.

Overall, the weekend should be mostly dry, with some sunshine mixed in.

Next week: Temperatures rise

Southeast Michigan will enjoy above-average temperatures to start next workweek, with highs in the 60s by Tuesday.

There are rain chances and temperatures in the 50s to round out the week, but we could get back into the 60s by next weekend.

The Climate Prediction Center has our temperature outlook above average over the next two weeks.

Clocks spring forward

Don’t forget that daylight saving time begins this weekend.

Set your clocks forward on March 9, as we’ll lose an hour of sleep Saturday night into Sunday morning in exchange for an extra hour of daylight in the evenings.
