Wind, rain, snow combo to end weekend in Metro Detroit

Minor snow accumulation possible in northern suburbs, Thumb

Were you hoping for more snow before winter ended? Your chance of spring snow is imminent.

The mostly clear to partly cloudy sky conditions will continue into Saturday night, but clouds will increase during the early morning. Expect lows ranging from 20 to 25 degrees in most of Metro Detroit. Outside of that range, Detroit will be a couple of degrees milder and lows in the teens may be found in the Thumb. Northwesterly winds at 6 to 12 mph will become light and variable.

Sunday

Clouds will increase on Sunday. Otherwise, the morning will be cool and breezy. Afternoon temperatures will be in the lower to mid 40s as rain showers approach from the west. Expect rain showers after 5 p.m. Southeasterly winds will be 5 to 15 mph with gusts up to 25 mph.

By 8 p.m., rain and snow showers will be on Exact Track 4D radar in Southeast Michigan. Snow will have a hard time sticking, but the grassy surfaces will have a better chance for accumulation. Lows will be in the lower to mid 30s.

Monday

Rain and snow showers will continue into Monday morning. A light dusting to less than an inch of snow will be possible in northern communities, especially north of M-59. The best chance of accumulations near an inch will be north of I-69.

A few rain and snow showers will linger into Monday afternoon. Otherwise, it will be mostly cloudy and breezy. Winds will be out of the west-southwest at 15 to 20 mph with gusts as high as 40 mph.

Gale Watch

A gale watch has been issued for the Southeast Michigan waters of Lake Huron from 2 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday.

Monday’s daytime temperatures will reach the lower 40s, which is several degrees cooler than normal. Nighttime temperatures will fall to around 30 degrees. The chance of showers will cease in the evening and leave behind mostly cloudy skies.

Tuesday

Tuesday will bring a mix of clouds and sunshine with increasing clouds. Highs will be in the mid 40s. Under mostly cloudy skies, lows will be around 30 degrees.

Wednesday

Wednesday’s temperatures will be similar, but it will be partly cloudy.

Thursday and Friday

Temperatures will rise into the mid 50s on both Thursday and Friday, but the difference will be sky conditions. Metro Detroit’s skies will be partly cloudy on Thursday, but rain will develop on Friday.

Saturday

Expect more rain for Saturday as temperatures push into the 60s.

Metro Detroit’s average highs are around 50 degrees for next week.
