Warm front heading to Metro Detroit, storms expected this week

Shower and storm chances to start the weekend

DETROIT – Dry weather returns today and will last through Thursday. As we clear out the cloud cover, we can plan for sunshine today and tomorrow, but the clearer skies will also allow for temperatures to fall into the mid to 20s to lower 30s tonight.

Tomorrow

Sunny and closer to 60 on Thursday. An approaching warm front will bring shower chances Thursday night. We can’t rule out an isolated storm (never trust a warm front), but the better chance for more linear storms will arrive late Friday.

Good Friday

The passing warm front will lead to a much warmer day on Friday with highs well into the 70s. There is a slight risk of severe thunderstorms Friday evening, but exact timing of a cold front will be the key, as much of Friday looks to be dry with the storm chances well after sunset through the overnight. Gusty winds and hail will be the primary threats.

Easter Weekend

A lingering shower is possibly early Saturday, especially before daybreak. Otherwise, we dry out and stay dry on Easter Sunday with seasonal temperatures on either side of 60 through the weekend.
