Warm, windy, rainy weather to start workweek in Metro Detroit

Temperatures return to 70s on Monday in Southeast Michigan

The weekend is ending with near-normal weather, but temperatures will jump into the 70s again on Monday. The warmer weather will arrive with rain and gusty winds.

Nighttime Easter plans will be able to proceed without any significant weather impacts. The rain showers and a couple of thunderstorms will move into Southeast Michigan overnight, mainly after 2 a.m., as a warm front approaches from the southwest.

Lows will range from the lower- to mid-40s around midnight, but the temperatures will slowly rise overnight. Nighttime winds will be out of the east at 8 to 15 mph with gusts in excess of 20 mph.

Monday

Plan for a few rain showers during the Monday morning drive. Rush hour temperatures will be in the 50s. Most of the showers will wind down by noon, but isolated showers will be possible into the afternoon. Temperatures will peak around 70 degrees. Southeasterly winds will become southwesterly in the afternoon at 15 to 25 mph. Gusts will be as high as 40 mph.

The warm front will be closely followed by a cold front, which will lead to cooler arriving for Monday night and Tuesday.

Monday night will be breezy. The cloud cover will break up overnight. Lows will be in the lower 40s. Westerly winds will be 15 to 20 mph with gusts up to 35 mph.

Tuesday

Skies will be partly cloudy to mostly sunny Tuesday morning, with plenty of sunshine all day. Do not forget the sunglasses. Highs will be in the lower- to mid-60s.

Temperatures will fall to the lower- to mid-40s on Tuesday night, under partly cloudy skies. Another warm front will push into Southeast Michigan overnight.

Wednesday

The 70-degree weather will make a comeback starting Wednesday and lasting through the workweek.

A stray rain shower will be possible on Wednesday, particularly in the morning. The high will be around 70 degrees and the low near 50 degrees.

Thursday

Skies will be mostly cloudy on Thursday with highs in the lower- to mid-70s. Lows will be in the lower-50s, with a chance of rain showers.

Friday

Friday will be mostly cloudy with rain showers developing in the afternoon. Temperatures will manage to climb into the lower-70s. Nighttime temperature will fall to the mid-40s, with the chance of rain.

Saturday & Sunday

Next weekend, temperatures will peak around 60 degrees. A few rain showers will be possible on Saturday, but Sunday will bring sunshine.

Metro Detroit’s average highs for this week are in the lower-60s, and the average lows are in the lower-40s. The average last freeze is April 22 near Metro Airport, but freezing temperatures can occur in May.
