Thunderstorms are expected in Metro Detroit on Tuesday, April 29.

Here’s what you can expect during these storms and when to expect them:

What to expect-- Damaging wind gusts, heavy rain

Metro Detroit will see high temperatures in the lower 80s on Tuesday, before a cold front moves through Southeast Michigan, triggering thunderstorms.

The Storm Prediction Center issued a Level 2 Risk for severe storms.

There is the potential for damaging wind gusts of more than 65 MPH, along with heavy rain.

Hail is possible with these storms, but winds will be the bigger threat. The threat of a tornado is very low as we head into Tuesday.

After that, the cold front will move out of the region by late evening on Tuesday, with drier weather expected to return on Wednesday.

When severe weather is possible -- Storm window

The potentially severe storms are expected to move through Metro Detroit Tuesday afternoon and evening.

The severe weather is possible from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, but most of it is expected to flare up from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m.
