A 4Warn Weather Alert has been issued for Thursday night as we track the potential for strong to severe storms.
All of Southeast Michigan is under a slight risk (Level 2/5) for severe weather on Thursday night.
Timeline for severe storms
Before the storms, clear skies are expected during the daytime hours in Southeast Michigan. Highs will top out on either side of 80.
Then, strong to severe thunderstorms are expected to move through the region between 10 p.m. and 3 a.m.
Biggest threats
Large hail and damaging winds are possible during these storms. A tornado and localized flooding, with heavy rainfall, also can’t be ruled out.
Friday
Sunshine returns and highs soar back into the 80s. Another round of thunderstorms is possible on Friday night, with a secondary cold front.
Weekend
Pre-dawn showers are possible on Saturday. Cooler weather is expected through the weekend. Highs will be in the upper 60s.
Looking ahead
Next week will be slightly cooler than average with a stretch of temperatures in the 60s. Rain chances in Metro Detroit return mid-week.
