Southeast Michigan’s next chance of rain is late Sunday night and early Monday morning.
An isolated shower will be possible before the main line of showers and thunderstorms headed toward Southeast Michigan. The rain will make it into the region, ahead of the cold front, after midnight.
Otherwise, expect increasing clouds and lows in the lower-60s. Winds will be southeasterly at 5-10 mph before becoming southwesterly overnight.
Monday
The rain, heat, and wildfire smoke will dominate the weather headlines this week.
The chance of rain showers will linger into the Monday morning drive. Behind the showers, expect haze and mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies. Wildfire smoke could bother people who are sensitive to it. Temperatures will rise into the mid- to upper-70s. Southwesterly winds will be 6 to 12 mph.
A secondary cold front will introduce another chance of showers and thunderstorms Monday evening. A couple of storms could become strong with the threat of heavy rain and brief, gusty winds.
Apart from the rain chance, nighttime skies will be partly cloudy. Monday’s lows will be in the mid-50s.
Tuesday
An isolated shower or two cannot be ruled out for Tuesday, but it will be mostly dry and partly cloudy. Highs will be in the mid-70s. Nighttime temperatures will fall to the mid-50s.
Wednesday
Wednesday will be mostly sunny, hazy and hot. While the wildfire smoke could have a minor effect on how hot it gets, Southeast Michigan is still forecast to reach the lower-80s. A few spots will touch the mid-80s. Lows will be in the lower-60s.
Thursday
Thursday will begin dry and mild, but a slight chance of rain showers and thunderstorms will develop for the afternoon and evening. Highs will be in the upper-70s and lower-80s. Nighttime temperatures will dip to around 60 degrees.
Friday and Saturday
Under mostly cloudy skies, rain shower chances will stick around for Friday and Saturday due to a slow-moving front. Highs will be in the mid- to upper-70s.
Sunday
Next Sunday looks to be dry, with similar temperatures.
The average highs for this forecast period are in the upper-70s to 80 degrees.
