Hazy, seasonal start to the week in Metro Detroit -- When to expect storm chances

Wildfire smoke continues to bring widespread haze

DETROIT – Another hazy start to the week. As an upper level low pressure system will continue to bring shower and thunderstorm chances this afternoon. Some of the storms may be strong to severe after 3pm with wind gusts up to 60 mph and small hail. There is a marginal (level 1 out of 5) risk for severe weather for our northwestern suburbs in Oakland, Livingston and Macomb counties. Highs will be in the mid to upper 70s.

Tuesday

Relatively dry on Tuesday but a few spotty showers and a rumble of thunder can’t be ruled out in the afternoon. Highs will be back in the 70s.

Midweek

Turning hot, humid and hazy midweek. Much warmer weather is expected Wednesday with highs in the mid 80s and dewpoints of around 60 degrees. That will bring us the air you can wear. Back into the low 80s on Thursday with a chance for afternoon showers and storms.

Late Week

Unsettled conditions are expected during the end of the week as a frontal boundary develops over the region. This keeps rain chances in the forecast on Friday and Saturday and drop highs below average in the low 70s.
