Forecast synopsis

After a few thunderstorms to start the day on Saturday, we broke out into plenty of sunshine from the late morning hours through the afternoon and into the early evening. That sent our daytime highs on Saturday into the lower 90s for the first time this summer, and we’ve got much more heat and humidity on the way over the next 3 to 4 days.

In upper-level ridge of high-pressure will control the forecast through the next 3 to 4 days, anchored over portions of the Tennessee valley and into the gulf states. This will act like a heat pump, drawing in lots of heat and humidity into the eastern half of the United States through the middle of next week.

This will keep the sunshine in the forecast for at least the next few days, before we start to bring the chance of a few scattered showers and thunderstorm thunderstorms into the forecast on Tuesday. And with the heat and humidity sticking around, we will keep the chance of a few showers and thunderstorms under the forecast through the middle and end of next week.

High temperatures for the next 2 to 3 days will be in the mid to upper 90s, but once you factor in the humidity, we are expecting heat index value used to go at or above 100° in most locations. While temperatures will drop by the middle and end of next week back into the 80s, we still will keep some humidity around making it feel just a tad bit warmer than it actually is outside even with the chances for showers and thunderstorms.
