Metro Detroit Halloween weather forecast: Mother Nature provides a trick, not a treat

No description found

The Halloween forecast hasn’t changed much since early last week, and there’s no beating around the bush: it’s going to be a cold one for the kids, not to mention all of you parents walking with them.

Temperatures will only be in the upper 30s to near 40 degrees (4 degrees Celsius), but the wind will make it feel more like 30 degrees (-1 degree Celsius).  I realize that some of you bought a certain size costume for your kids a few weeks ago, not thinking about multiple layers underneath the costume, but that’s what you’ll have to deal with this evening.

For the rest of us, PLEASE use a lot of caution if you’ll be driving in your neighborhood, as some costumes make it pretty tough to see a kid.  Since it’ll be so cold out, kids will be darting from house to house quicker than normal, and many kids will at some point be crossing the street.  When my kids were younger, I always insisted that they carry flashlights as they went door-to-door…that made them easier to see, and they had fun with them, anyway.  Remember that sunset this evening is at 6:28 p.m.

The rest of the night should be mostly cloudy, perhaps even becoming partly cloudy, with lows in the low 30s (-1 to 0 degree Celsius).  Wind diminishing to 4 to 7 mph, and shifting to the south.

Wednesday forecast

Any limited sunshine Wednesday morning will be quickly replaced by more clouds, but the daylight hours will remain dry.  Highs in the mid 40s (8 degrees Celsius).  South to southeast wind at 7 to 12 mph.

Wednesday’s sunrise is at 8:07 a.m., and Wednesday’s sunset is at 6:27 p.m.  Reminder:   we go off Daylight Saving Time and return to Eastern Standard Time at 2:00 a.m. THIS Sunday, November 5th.  So, make a note that you need to set your clocks BACK an hour before you go to bed Saturday night.  Enjoy that extra hour of sleep!  You’ll also notice that the sun will set an hour earlier starting that Sunday, and the kids will get more daylight for the morning bus stop come next Monday morning.

A steady rain develops Wednesday night, with temperatures actually rising later at night into the upper 40s (9 degrees Celsius).

Forecast for the week

The steady rain ends first thing Thursday morning, but showers are still possible during the day.  Get ready for a surge of warm air, though, as temps rise into the low 60s (16 degrees Celsius)!

Showers end by late Thursday night as a cold front crosses the area, with lows in the low to mid 40s (6 degrees Celsius).

Becoming mostly sunny on Friday, with cooler highs behind that cold front in the low to mid 50s (11-12 degrees Celsius).

Mostly clear to partly cloudy Friday night, with lows in the mid 30s (2 degrees Celsius).

Becoming cloudy with showers developing on Saturday.  Highs in the low 50s (11 degrees Celsius).

Shower chances continue Saturday night, with lows in the mid 40s (6-7 degrees Celsius).  Don’t forget to set those clocks BACK one hour before you go to bed!

There is still the possibility for more showers on Sunday, but our temperature roller coaster continues as highs rebound back to near 60 degrees (15 degrees Celsius).
