It’s mild and mostly dry around Metro Detroit this morning, but grab the umbrella and prepare for a wet Wednesday.
Instead of a wintry mix, this will be plain rain which will be very light and spotty through the early morning, and heavier showers late morning through your afternoon. Morning lows are near 40 degrees and warming while afternoon highs will range from 45 to 50 degrees even with the clouds and rain moving through ahead of a cold front. Winds will start cranking today SSW 7-17 mph gusting over 20 mph at times. Expect the bulk of our rain between 11am and 5pm but showers could linger through the evening drive. Another wave of wet weather behind the front comes through late tonight or overnight bringing a few rain and snow showers. It could be slick early Thursday.
After a slippery start, it will be dry and mostly cloudy Thursday with lows in the 30s and highs in the low and mid 40s. Without a ton of sunshine and pesky breezes WNW 10-20 mph, we will struggle to warm up tomorrow. We will stay on the dry side most of Friday with just light rain chances Friday night. Highs Friday will hit the mid and upper 40s under mostly cloudy skies.
Heavier showers move through Southeastern Lower Michigan and Southern Ontario Saturday morning with rain and thundershowers likely. Model data suggests it will stay wet and stormy through the early afternoon if not a bit longer. Still, highs may hit the mid 50s on Saturday and then cooling Sunday with windy conditions both weekend days.
The combination of cold air and wind on Sunday means lake effect snow showers are possible to end the weekend.
