CLINTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. – New information about the massive March 4 fire and explosion came out of Clinton Township Monday night.
Local 4 was told that the on-site investigation would not be held until early April, when investigators from multiple agencies could examine the evidence simultaneously.
In the meantime, the city council in Macomb County made a point at Monday’s (March 18) meeting to say that the business was properly permitted before opening.
The owner’s decision to store those gas canisters was not only a code violation, but it would have never been allowed if inspectors had known about it.
The council also took a minute to hold a moment of silence, honoring the 19-year-old killed by debris from the blast.
