Fans nationwide descend on Detroit for the NFL draft

NFL is Thursday night in downtown Detroit

DETROIT – Fans from around the world have descended on Detroit for the NFL draft.

“We have a fan club in Germany of about 100 people and we travel to each home opener each year, maybe two or three games each year and this year is our first year at the draft in Detroit,” a group of visitors from Germany said.

Kevin Mansouri and Alex Lee from Los Angeles have made a tradition of traveling to the NFL draft each year.

“I don’t have an excuse to come to Detroit, I don’t have an excuse to come to Kansas City,” said Lee. “Next year is going to be Green Bay. This is my excuse. And I wouldn’t see these places if I didn’t have this event.”

So far, the visitors said Detroit is exceeding their expectations.

“It’s a nice city, friendly people and we like the atmosphere here, many football fans,” the fans from Germany said.
