Former Warren city councilman charged with carrying gun without license

Bond was set at $5K

Former Warren City Councilman Edward Kabacinski was charged and arraigned for carrying a concealed firearm without a license.

The incident occurred on Sunday (April 28) when Warren officers observed the handgun during a traffic stop.

Officials said Kabacinski, 50, does not have a concealed pistol license.

“We will prosecute those who choose to unlawfully carry weapons,” said Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido. “Everyone, regardless of who they are, is held accountable for their actions.”

The 50-year-old was charged with carrying a concealed weapon (5-year felony).

Kabancinski was charged in 37th District Court on Thursday, where bond was set at $5,000 cash/surety.

A probable cause hearing is scheduled for Thursday, May 16, at 8:45 p.m.
